to the emerald city at once!

Reference The Wizard of Oz in a polish name and I'm happy. Actually reference anything I love in a polish nail and I'm happy. Emerald City by Revlon is part of their matte suede line and I for one love the finish on these little darlings. It looks a little like velvet to me. Extremely pretty. Worth a try I say. x

awaken-me up

Awaken by China Glaze is my perfect one coat polish. It's so opaque and the formula is so great to work with that it's easy to go from bare nail to fully polished in about3 minutes including base coat. You could add a top coat as well but I didn't in the pictures below. I was actually in a bit of a rush when I applied this so application isn't perfect. Didn't have time for a clean up...oh dear. But I think it still looks pretty darn good. Plus this shade is right on trend. This is from China Glaze's 2009 Romantique collection but it's still pretty widely available on e-tailers all over so if you don't already have it I'd recommend the investment. x

incognito icon

This is the third polish I've posted that's pretty much dead on for Chanel's Paradoxal. I can't help it. This type of shade suckers me in every time. This particular one is Incognito by BB Couture and while it's obviously not unique it's still lovely and well worth the time in my opinion. Enjoy. x

If you were wondering what the other dupes are the posts are here and here. :)

pink jelly

I picked up this sportsgirl jelly polish on clearance for $1 last week and I am so glad that I did. I wasn't expecting too much from this but I ended up loving it. The pictures below are four coats and I don't think I'd wear this when my nails weren't super short since it's so ridiculously sheer but as it was I loved the juicy watermelon type colour on my little stumps. It just looked clean and polished and I felt very girly. Think I'll get a lot of use out of this in the summer.

greta still vants to be a-lone star after all these years

I knew I had to have this colour the second I saw it. Not just for the awesome Greta Garbo reference but because it's just so darn pretty! A lot of people are of the opinion that if you have Sea Spray from China Glaze then you probably don't need I Vant to be A-lone Star but they have such a different look on the nail to me that you could easily get away with having both without it being a waste. The shimmer in this polish is gorgeous and the shade is spot on. It does give me slight lobster hands but that's my problem not the polishes. Love these type of grayed out blues! Can't get enough. x

super snowcone

About six months ago the idea of loving a blue nail polish was completely foreign to me. Especially such a light, vibrant blue but my tastes have certainly shifted because Snowcone by Orly is easily one of my fav polishes. The formula is perfect. The wear time is great and best of all no lobster hands! Yay!

zombie zesting

Another China Glaze Awakening polish for you today.I was really looking forward to trying Zombie Zest. I love the way it looks on other people. It's got that so ugly it's pretty thing going for it but on me...Yeah. Not good. I chopped my nails down to nothing after this picture and I actually kind of liked it on barely there nails but it still didn't look great. I think next time I'll try layering it over a darker green and see if that helps...

mystery silver

I brought this little gem about 3 years ago and it was my first foray into silver or gray nails. I got this before nail polish became an obsession and therefore peeled off the price sticker which unfortunately was the only place the name of the colour appears on Sportsgirl polishes. So I have no idea what this is called and that drives me crazy! Despite that little annoyance I still love this shade of silver. It's beautiful and metallic with a faint micro-shimmer to it. Just lovely. I don't wear it as often as I use to just because I now have so many other polishes to choose from but I still love it all the same. x

ick-a-bod-y bliss

I only recently invested in China Glaze's Awakening collection from last Halloween but man am I glad that I did. The first colour I'll be showing you is Ick-a-bod-y which I love for a multitude of reasons. One of which being the name. I love Sleepy Hollow, both the novel and the film and to have a polish name that's a play on the main characters name is brilliant in my book. The polish itself is utterly unique to my collection. A dark green base with large copper/orange glitter. It's just amazing. Despite the bumpy finish I will be wearing this quite often me thinks.

counting on country club khaki

I'm still finding my way with neutral polish. Learning what I like and what suits me (not always the same thing...) Country Club Khaki is a lovely biscuity tan shade that makes me feel calm and put together. I was on the hunt for this shade for a while and I'm glad I finally found it. What do you think of this understated Orly shade?

raspberry truffle triumph

Raspberry Truffle was the first Nubar polish I lusted after and is it any wonder? This polish is a deep beautiful brown base with glowing particles of raspberry red glitter. So unique and lovely. The perfect polish for when you're feeling a little bit vampy but still want that sparkle.

new nail effects!

Looks like Barry M is stepping up to the demand for more coloured crackle polish. I love my black Nail Effects polish so can't wait to try some of the other colours. Especially the blue. So pretty!

knight's super sparkly armor

Glitter polishes are back in a big way at the moment so I thought I'd share one of my favourites that's a little left of centre. Yet another polish from Nubars fortress collection. Knight's Armor is a black base filled to the brim with medium sized silver glitter. This polish is sparkly and attention seeking without being gaudy and obvious. I love wearing this polish and am surprised that I don't see it featured on more blogs. One to check out, me thinks.

dashing dark knight

BB Couture polishes are amazingly fantastic and when I saw they had a polish called Dark Knight I had to give it a try since I love Christopher Nolans Batman films. I'm so glad my nerdyness made me order this colour because it's gorgeous! Dark Knight is an inky black with a goldy green shimmer. Beautiful. Absolutely beautiful. Like all BB Couture polishes I've tried the formula was perfect, just like butter and clean up was a breeze. If you're looking for your new favourite brand then this might be it. x

perfect prince charming

Prince Charming by Orly is a polish I've been wanting to try out for quite some time and I have to say it didn't disappoint. If you're looking at this and thinking it's close to OPI's You Don't Know Jacques then you're right but Prince Charming is definitely a lot warmer. you only really need both if you're obsessive like me. Who else has tried this polish? What did you think?

hooray for sea spray

Is there any polish lover out there who hasn't fallen for this colour yet? It seems to be everywhere and loved by all. Sea Spray is a muted grayed out baby blue colour with some subtle shimmer. This was perfect in two coats but probably could have got away with one if I was in a hurry.
