a supernatural dupe

I was wandering through the sale section at Sportsgirl (for anyone not in Australia Sportsgirl is kinda like Topshop in the UK. Very similar clothes...) at the end of last year and came across this AMAZING polish, which if you can't tell is a dupe for the Chanel polish in Paradoxal. I'm in love with this. The formulation of the Sportsgirl polishes is actually extremely good. If you're in Aus then you must check out this line!

mod about nail effects

Mod About You by OPI is a firm favourite with a lot of people and while I do love the colour, it really does my dinky nails and skin tone no favors. So when I got a craving to wear this recently I decided to mix things up with Barry M's Nail Effects polish. What I got was a trendy and much more wearable version of a cult classic. What do you think? what colours in you collection need to be altered to suit?

uptempo plum? more like downtempo.

I have not been so disappointed in a polish in quite some time. In the bottle, Uptempo Plum has the most gorgeous glitter running through it. On the nail it all but disappears and to top it off the colour virtually changes to black. Not good enough Miss Hansen. Not even close.

if Bogie says then it must be true

Now this is a polish I've been waiting to wear. The Vintage Vixen's collection from China Glaze last Autumn was easily my favourite collection of the year. From any brand. As I've said before old school hollywood is a great love of mine so polish name's like Ingrid ( after Ingrid Bergman) and the polish shown below, Bogie (after Humphrey Bogart) really appealed to me but honestly even if the polishs didn't have names I would still be in love with the colour selection. Bogie is a perfect shimmery plum colour. It's dark but not so dark that it looks black. This colour was love at first application and one that I will be wearing all year round.

my pixy stix fix

Orly is without a doubt one of my favourite brands. Gorgeous range of colours and near perfect formulation. Pixy Stix came out with Orlys 2010 spring collection, Sweet. This colour, if you can't tell, is the perfect pinky peach. It's everything I wanted and more. I really can't rave about this colour enough but to spare you all from having to read a 2000 word rant I'll leave it there and just say that if you don't already have this polish then keep an eye out. Too good to miss.

estate of your own

Blue nails have never really been my favourite look but I have to say I appreciate the sheer dimension of this polish. Estate is from Jessicas Colour for the Generations Christmas set and I wasn't that excited about this colour until I saw it in person. The multicoloured glitter in this baby is freakin' gorgeous! Still not sure I love the way it looks on me but in general I am very impressed by this polish. If you have yet to try out a Jessica polish then what are you waiting for? They're amazing!

oh so secret peri-winkle

I am very rarely surprised by a polish when I apply it to my nails. Often I'm surprised when I first see a colour in the bottle but usually by the time it gets to my nails I've got a fair idea of what i'm in for. China Glazes, Secret Peri-winkle; however, threw me for a loop. I ordered this polish many months ago and it's been sitting in my collection ever since. Only recently did I get around to trying it on and I simply couldn't believe how much I loved it! This gorgeous blue with it's purple undertones is one of the prettiest creme colours I own. I don't know if it's simply how it complements my skin tone but there's something about this colour that really stood out for me. I would recommend trying this out for yourself. Simply lovely. x

All rise for her majesty, Princess Grace

As far as sheer, shimmery baby pinks go I've never really been that much of a fan but something I am a fan of is the silver screen. Which is why I couldn't help myself when I found out that China Glaze had a polish named after the lovely, Grace Kelly. Princess Grace is a polish that I never would have picked up if I wasn't a sucker for a good colour name but despite that I ended up quite liking the change of pace that this little bottle brought to my fingertips. If you, like myself, could use a break from the usual mix of dark vs. bright nails then maybe Princess Grace is the colour for you!.x

hunting for style

I only just picked up this polish a couple of days ago. I don't have many Rimmel colours but the ones I do have are quite lovely. Definitely one of the better drugstore brands. Style Hunter is a browned rose colour with a silver sheen that's really only detectable in sunlight. Very work friendly/grown up polish. I like it a lot though. could easily be a boring polish but something about the glossy/slightly shimmery finish picks it up and makes it just that little bit more interesting. One to check out, I think.

striking a posy with mrs claus

When it came to China Glaze's Christmas collection from the year just passed, the only polish I was excited to get my hands on was Mrs Claus but since China Glaze isn't available in Australia that meant looking for it online and OHMYGOSH that collection sold out sooo quickly at pretty much every e-tailer i've ever used but I did find some kind souls selling them on ebay.
So purchase it I did with hopes of it arriving in time for Christmas day. Which, it didn't. but oh well...
I did manage to get it in time for new years and that is the story of how the very pretty and super glittery, Mrs Claus (along with and undercoat of strike a posy) became my New Years manicure. What were your nails sporting come midnight?
