funny face

I don't usually go for such 'obvious' pinks but Funny Face is one of my favourite movies so I just couldn't resist. I'm actually really glad I'm a sucker for names because I ended up really enjoying wearing this polish! It's such a fun happy looking shade. Really lifted my mood! So thanks Essie, you surprised me again.

and just for the hell of it here's a picture of dear old Fred and Audrey in Funny Face.

Aren't they lovely!

pink rose diamond

Yet another Sally Hansen Nail Prisms holo. Pink Rose Diamond is, I think, my favourite one of these so far. It kinda just looks like a neutral pink in the shade but when it hits the light it's like, BAM! crazy holo glitterness! And while i'm not a huge holo lover it is an interesting finish and fun to play around with every now and then.

easily edyta

I'm not sure what to say about Zoya's Edyta. It's a lovely complex deep green shimmer but unfortunatly this polish has taught me that I can't really pull off yellow greens. I find blue greens work a heck of a lot better for me. Looking back at these photos it doesn't seem too bad but honestly every time I looked down at my fingers while I was wearing this it was just so jarring. Edyta looked strangely odd on me...which makes me a little sad because it is rather pretty.

blaze

Today I have a rather old Revlon polish to show you. Blaze is a bright jellish red polish and it's about 10 years old. Keeping that in mind I was super impressed with how lovely this polish was to work with. The pictures below are 2 coats without top coat and I have to say this lasted incredibly well on me. I took it off after 4 days and there was only minimal tip wear at that point. Vintage Revlon, never disappointing.

duke of wellington place

After wearing The Thames by Nails Inc the other day (which you can see here) I decided It was high time I wore my latest gray polish to come from Nails Inc, Duke of Wellington Place and this one matches my bed cover even better then The Thames! (which apparently is an important criteria of nail polish...) Anyway. While I prefer The Thames this polish is still highly lovely and is a much welcome addition to my ever growing gray collection.

lovely little drummer boy

Little Drummer Boy is from the 2010 China Glaze Christmas collection and I'm only getting around to wearing it now...for shame! This polish is an amazing inky one coat blue. I'm not even talking one thick coat. This polish just went on so easily for me. I honestly didn't even consider going to the trouble of layering an extra coat it just didn't need it. V.impressed!

housten we have a purple

Why did I wait so long to get this polish!? Housten We Have A Purple from OPI's Texas Collection earlier this year is simply stunning. It's one of their "sorbet" finishes (aka jelly) and it's so lovely. It's a very red based raspberry type purple and with the squishy texture it's just pure magic. In love with this polish! Gah! don't know what else to say except, i love it.

magic

Don't you hate when a camera can't capture the true beauty of a polish? Well this was certainly the case with Magic from OPI's Designer Series. In the pictures Magic looks like a pretty sparkly blue polish. Which it is; however, it also has some amazing purple shimmers that really bring the polish to life. Unfortunately they refused to be photographed and actually strangely enough they only really show up to their full effect in artificial lightning...Strange little polish it is. Despite all this Magic is simply gorgeous and must be seen in person to truly love. So if you don't already own it at least go look at a bottle in person, it really is lovely.

the thames

It's been far too long since I've worn a gray polish so I decided to pull out my tiny but trusty bottle of The Thames by Nails Inc. Lookit how pretty!! Medium gray shiny prettyness! love! It even matches my bed spread quite well...hmmm. What do you guys think? pretty or passé?

ruby diamond

So obviously this is one very pink holo. It's actually a slightly darker raspberry type pink then it's showing in the photos. From the name, Ruby Diamond, I would have expected it to be a lot redder then it actually is and I think I would have liked it a whole lot more if it had of been but alas it was not meant to be. This is very pretty for a holo but it's really just not my thing. To be honest i felt a little awkward while wearing this...Oh well. That's why I love nail polish though. If something doesn't quite work for you there are always other options.

blue moon moan

Let me just ay right of the bat, that Barry M's Blue Moon was the biggest pain in the butt to apply! Seriously very frustrating! So sheer and patchy and cuticle draggy, just URGH! the colour itself is actually super pretty but it was just so much effort. I ended up smudging like 3 separate nails right after I took these pictures so I just gave up and took it off but I'm not going to give up all together. I'll find a better less stressful way of making this polish work for me, just you wait and see! :)

che bella red

It's taken me a while but I finally like the way a red nail looks on me. Especially when it's more of a blue toned red like Che Bella Red from Borghese. It makes my skin look whiter, which I enjoy and it's classic and chic. Just lovely.

coquette vs. it's totally fort worth it

Just a quick comparison post for you today. Jessica's Coquette vs. OPI's It's Totally Fort Worth It. They're both sheer silvery grays with hot pink micro glitter particles.

As you can see they're not exact dupes but they are pretty darn close. I think I prefer the Jessica polish personally as it's a little more opaque with a glossier finish but both are quite nice.

where's the party?

Duochromes are just such fan aren't they!? Where's the Party by Essence is green and purple duochrome which I've been seeing a lot of lately. Is green and purple the easiest kind of duochrome to create or is it just that those colours look fab together so therefore it's a popular choice? If anyone knows let me know. Either way I think this polish is rather lovely.

coquette

Coquette by Jessica is a sheer silver/gray polish with flecks of hot pink glitter. If that looks or sounds familiar to you that's because Coquette is a dupe for OPI's It's Totally Fort Worth It. I think they were released around the same time (aka earlier this year). I'll do a comparison post for you shortly.

prized platinum

Prized Platinum by Revitanail is a sheer shimmering taupe polish with a pretty glossy finish. I picked this up on clearance for about $4. Unfortunately the whole Revitanail line has been discontinued. At least that's what I heard. I don't understand why they didn't sell so well. The formulas were great and some of the shades were just gorgeous. Sad.
