golden tourmaline tango

I have another Salley Hansen Nail Prisms for you today. Golden Tourmaline is a gorgeous red holo which was simply a pleasure to wear. I honestly loved looking down at my nails when I was wearing it. It, like all holos, looked a thousand times better in the sun but I still liked its understated beauty in the shade. After I'd been wearing it a few days I decided to throw on a coat of OPI's Red Shatter to hide the tip wear and I really liked the effect it gave. Obviously quite a subtle contrast but one I enjoyed.

murky mermaids tears

Okay so obviously I liked the look of this polish in swatches since I ended up purchasing it but I promise you that pictures don't do this polish justice. Mermaids Tears is just gorgeous! I'm not even usually one for pastel type shades but the murkiness of this polish really makes for a unique and flattering polish. I don't currently have this on my nails. The pictures are from a few weeks ago but thinking about how much I enjoyed wearing it is making me think that I might go repaint my nails with this as soon as I finish this post...

forever faye

Faye was the only polish from Zoya's Sunshine collection that I was really interested in. It almost has an antique feel to it in my opinion. It's a rustic purple/mauve base with very prominent golden shimmer but what I really like about it is that the shimmer isn't too yellow since I'm not much of a fan of yellow gold. This polish was a lot more understated then I was actually expecting it to be which I like as it turned out. V.pretty. Well worth a look if it hasn't already made it's way into your collection.

cyberspace case

Cyberspace is the first of the Milani 3D Holographic polishes that I've tried out and while it's not the most amazing holo I think it's pretty darn good, especially for the price tag. It wasn't the nicest of days unfortunately when I was taking pictures so I don't really have a direct sunlight full on rainbow flash type picture but you can see a little bit of the holo effect in the first swatch picture. I have a few more of these so I'm interested to see how they compare. Does anyone else have these? What do you think?

pearl and gems of wisdom

I've owned OPI's Pearl of Wisdom for some time now but never tried it because I didn't really think I'd be that fussed on it and SURPRISE, I wasn't... It's a sheer pearly polish with some micro glitter and it's just a bit boring. I haven't given up on it entirely though. I still plan on trying it out over a black and hopefully that will jazz things up nicely but since it was already on my nails, I wasn't pleased and didn't feel like taking it straight off I added a couple of coats of Milani's Gems (a supposed dupe for Deborah Lippmanns Happy Birthday) and I rather liked the results. Cheerful/glittery nails. Well done Milani you saved the day!

always across the universe

I was pretty much always going to be attracted to this polish simply because of the name. I'm a huge Beatles fan and Across the Universe is a brilliant song and as it turns out it's also I brilliant polish. Across The Universe is my first Deborah Lippmann polish but it won't be my last. I was always hesitant to spend so much on a single polish but it was worth it in my opinion. The sheer base with the different size, shape and colour glitter is just gorgeous. Like all glitter it was a pain to remove but the effect was worth the hassle. Love it!

skull and glossbones gush

Skull and Glossbones, how I love thee. Seriously, this polish is just gorgeous! Is it pale gray? Is it off white? Does it have a hint of green? I'm not really sure but I do know it's special. This is certainly unique to my collection and because of that will be getting a lot of use. I think I pretty much love the whole OPI Pirates of the Caribbean collection. I didn't think I originally wanted them all but I've slowly accumulated every polish except Steady As She Rose (I'm still not sold on it...).

merlin plays til mignight

I recently got my hands on an OPI polish from a previous Christmas collection, Play Til Midnight. I was pretty excited to try this since it looks so lovely in the bottle but as it turns out it's quite close to Russian Navy, which I've already shown on this here blog. Don't get me wrong it's not an exact dupe so I don't mind owning both but It was only a couple of weeks ago that I was wearing Russian Navy so I didn't feel like wearing something so similar. To combat this I decided to put a layer of A-England's Merlin over the top which is a dense silver glitter. It certainly changed things up I have to say. Gorgeous! Do you own any A-England polishes? What do you think?

going grey

For anyone who's a fan of Barry M polishes, Grey is a must have. It's a gorgeous medium toned grey creme with a high gloss finish. This is the perfect subdued polish to put on when you're undecided about what to wear.

louvre me louvre me not

I'm slowly collecting the whole France collection from OPI. Louvre Me Louvre Me Not is the latest polish to come my way and it is AMAZING! It's a purple toned red berry shimmer and it is just lovely. I can see me getting a lot of wear out of this. x

espresso brown

I am completely in love with this Polish from Borghese. Espresso Brown is perhaps my only brown polish with shimmer but it's just perfection. The formulation was great, it just flowed on my nail without effort and the shade turned out to be extremely flattering. Brilliant.

wicked white diamond

Showing off another Sally Hansen Nail Prisms today! This one is White Diamond and I'm showing it layered over a plain black creme to show off its true duo-chromatic possibilities. I love the way this looked but unfortunately I painted my nails before bed and wound up with many a sheet mark. Sad. Anyway I think you can get the idea. I have quite a few more Nail Prisms to post on here so look out for that!

my private jet

My Private Jet by OPI is a rather controversial shade. A lot of people seem to get outraged when it's brought up since the formula has been quite drastically changed since it first came out. The original was a true holographic polish and has since been changed to a different base colour with sparse holo glitter. The version I have is the more common later version and while I don't have the original to make a comparison I still like this polish. It's not the most unique shade in the world but it's pretty and chic and nice to wear. I wouldn't say no to it if I found the other version but for now I'm fine with just owning this one.

purple diamond dazzle

There was really no thought process behind why I picked up Purple Diamond. It basically went something along the lines of - "Hey look some Essence polishes! Ooh shiny!" And then the next thing I knew I was at the checkout... I am certainly glad I got it though. A lilac coloured foil type effect can never be wrong.
